Largest transport to Setra Hasselfors
The 4.3 meter wide and eight ton heavy machine has left Renholmen to be delivered to Setra's new dry sorting plant in Hasselfors. Of the 70 deliveries, this is the largest and requires special permission from the Swedish Transport Administration.
- In total, we send 15 special transports, which are over 2.6 meters. Two of the transports belong to the widest category and this is the largest, says Leif Pettersson, Project Manager at Renholmen AB.
The machine is a double package hoist with side feed that is 4.3 meters wide, 6.8 meters long and 3.1 meters high. A total of 70 deliveries are made with PostNord which transports Renholm's 150 machines to the sawmill.
When loading, two tractors are required on each side of the machine. When the machine hangs in the air, the 22 meter long jumbo trailer backs in under the machine. Slowly, the package hoist is lowered so it can be adjusted with pallets to stands firmly during the journey.
An equipage of this size requires permission from the Swedish Transport Administration, signage and management of a companion car, but also a predetermined transport route which must not be departed. The 90 km journey took just over 14 hours before arriving in Hasselfors.
